Lippstadt, 13 February 2020. The lighting and electronics expert HELLA is the supplier of battery management systems for the electric vehicle fleet of a European premium manufacturer. HELLA has already been supplying battery management systems for this manufacturer since 2016. In the summer of 2020, the latest generation of high-voltage battery management systems is expected to be launched and integrated into the vehicle manufacturer's e-vehicles and also into the full and plug-in hybrids.
"The electrification of mobility is progressing inexorably. We are supporting this trend holistically with our product solutions for all development stages of electromobility," explains Björn Twiehaus, who, as a member of the Electronics Executive Board at HELLA, is responsible for the Energy Management business. "The fact that we are now equipping the electric fleet of a leading European automobile manufacturer with our battery management systems underlines our strong market position. At the same time, it shows that we at HELLA will be benefiting long term from the change taking place in the industry."
Battery management systems monitor voltage, temperature and current of lithium-ion batteries. In addition, they implement various safety-relevant functions, including those relating to high voltage. The modular, scalable design of HELLA's battery management systems enables integration into each type of relevant drive electronics independent of the cell technology used, and on this basis ensures a high degree of variability for use in diverse batteries and vehicle models.
